That's a nice segue into a Rotary Foundation Minute
from our District 6440 Rotary Foundation Chair, PDG Ellen Young:
Much of the world's population, especially in poor countries, is made up of children and young people. To achieve a peaceful world, it is crucial that the rights of children and young people be respected. Injustices perpetrated against children contribute to the spread of conflicts to future generations.
A 14-year-old student named Malala was shot in 2012 by the Pakistan Taliban for her advocacy for student education. Malala Yousafzai received Nobel Peace Prize in 2014 “for her struggle against the suppression of children and young people and for the right of all children to education."
In her writings and her speeches, Malala’s message was:
“Let’s pick up our books and our pens; They are our most powerful weapons. One child, one teacher, one book and one pen can change the world.”

Everyone Welcome!
Last week Matt announced that this year the last Wednesday each month our morning meeting will be replaced with an evening social activity!
Each month we will have one meeting be a Club Assembly and one meeting we'll have an outside speaker. The remaining meeting(s) will vary, and will include some "Rotarian Spotlights"/"Vocational Talks"
Charlotte, our exchange student from Germany, will be arriving August 5th.
Welcome to our newest future Dawnbreaker!

Our Dawnbreakers club
is only a small (but important!) part of
Rotary International.
A great way to learn about all the different aspects of Rotary is the
District Leadership Academy
Don't let the word "Leadership" scare you off!
You do NOT have to have plans to be any sort of District leader to enroll.
It is an all-online class
that you can do in your free time.
