The club voted to pledge this year's remaining
DDF (District Designated Funds)
to a global grant spearheaded by the Kihihi (Ugandan) Rotary club
The money will provide equipment for 4 new ICU units to a community in a severely underserved area in rural Uganda. 80% of Uganda’s 12 ICU units and 55 ICU beds are located in the capital of Kampala. The country’s total population is 42 million people – most of whom do not have access to adequate medical care. This grant will fund the equipment for a new ICU under construction, which will provide ICU care for the three million people living in the Kanungu District – 8 hours away from the nearest ICU.
